In continuation of my Despatch
No. 123 of the 8th. ultimo, I have the honour to transmit
12 copies of the report of the Acting Medical Officer of
Health on the epidemic of plague in this Colony during the
year 1904.
This Report was not received in
time to forward with the other Medical Reports and is ad-
-ditional to the long list of those reports given in the
first paragraph of the above quoted Despatch.

Dr. Pearse has reviewed the evi-
-dence upon which rest the theories of infection in Plague
through the skin, alimentary and respiratory systems and
concludes that except in primary pneumonic Plague the
usual mode of entrance of the virus is through the skin.
3.
He also gives a careful analysis
of the incidence of rat plague and human plague and points
